NetworkManager │ NetworkManager is a tool for easily managing network connections
*abrtd           │ Listen and dispatch crash events
*acpid           │ Listen and dispatch ACPI events from the kernel
*atd             │ Runs commands scheduled by the "at" command at the time specified when "at" was run, and runs batch commands when the load average is low enough.
*auditd          │ This starts the Linux Auditing System Daemon, which collects security related events in a dedicated audit log. If this daemon is turned off, audit events will be sent to syslog.
avahi-daemon    │ This is a daemon which runs on client machines to perform Zeroconf service discovery on a network. avahi-daemon must be running on systems that use Avahi for service discovery. Avahi-daemon should not be running otherwise.
bluetooth       │ Trigger bluetoothd start-up
btseed          │ Start up seed clients for BitTorrent
bttrack         │ Start up tracker for BitTorrent
capi            │ start and stop capi services for passive ISDN cards
*cpuspeed        │ This script enables/disables processor frequency scaling support, either using the cpuspeed daemon or in-kernel frequency scaling support
*crond           │cron is a standard UNIX program that runs user-specified programs at periodic scheduled times. vixie cron adds a number of features to the basic UNIX cron, including better security and more powerful configuration options.
cups↓           │ The CUPS scheduler
cvs   │The CVS service can record the history of your source files. CVS stores all the versions of a file in a single file in a clever way that only stores the differences between versions.
dc_client       │ Distcache is a Distributed SSL Session Cache Client Proxy.
dc_server       │ Distcache is a Distributed SSL Session Cache server.
dnsmasq         │ This script starts your DNS caching server
firstboot       │ Firstboot runs the first time a machine is booted after installation. It checks for the existance of an /etc/sysconfig/firstboot file. If the file exists and contains RUN_FIRSTBOOT=NO, firstboot will not run. Otherwise firstboot will be run. If /etc/reconfigSys exists or if "reconfig" is provided in the kernel boot arguments, firstboot will run in reconfiguration mode.
*gpm             │ GPM adds mouse support to text-based Linux applications such as the Midnight Commander. It also allows mouse-based console cut-and-paste operations, and includes support for pop-up menus on the console.
*haldaemon       │ This is a daemon for collecting and maintaing information about hardware from several sources. See http://www.freedesktop.org/Software/hal
httpd           │ The Apache HTTP Server is an extensible server implementing the current HTTP standards.
*ip6tables       │ Start, stop and save ip6tables firewall
*iptables        │ Start, stop and save iptables firewall
irda            │ IrDA(TM) (Infrared Data Association) is an industry standard for wireless, infrared communication between devices. IrDA speeds range from 9600 bps to 4 Mbps, and IrDA can be used by many modern devices including laptops, LAN adapters, PDAs, printers, and mobile phones.
irqbalance      │ The irqbalance daemon will distribute interrupts across the cpus on a multiprocessor system with the purpose of spreading the load
isdn   │ start and stop ISDN services

mdmonitor     │ The mdmonitor service checks the status of all software RAID arrays on the system. In the event that any of the arrays transition into a degraded state, it notifies the system administrator. Other options are available, see the mdadm.conf and mdadm man pages for possible ways to configure this service.
*messagebus    │ This is a daemon which broadcasts notifications of system events and other messages.
*microcode_ctl │ script to apply cpu microcode
multipathd   │ This service monitors and manages device-mapper multipath devices
mysqld        │ MySQL database server.
netconsole    │ Initializes network console logging
*netfs           │ Mount and unmount network filesystems.
netplugd      │ netplugd is a daemon for managing non-static network interfaces.
network       │ Bring up/down networking
nfs    │ NFS is a popular protocol for file sharing across networks \ This service provides NFS server functionality, \ which is configured via the /etc/exports file.
nfslock       │ NFS is a popular protocol for file sharing across \ networks. This service provides NFS file locking \ functionality.
nmb      │ Starts and stops the Samba smbd and nmbd daemons used to provide SMB network services.
nscd    │ This is a daemon which handles passwd and group lookups \ for running programs and cache the results for the next \ query. You should start this daemon if you use \ slow naming services like NIS, NIS+, LDAP, or hesiod.
ntpd   │ ntpd is the NTPv4 daemon. The Network Time Protocol (NTP) is used to synchronize the time of a computer client or server to another server or reference time source, such as a radio or satellite receiver or modem.
ntpdate      │ ntpdate sets the local clock by polling NTP servers
openvpn       │
pcscd         │ The PC/SC smart card daemon is a resource manager for the PC/SC lite and Musclecard frameworks. It coordinates communications with smart card readers, smart cards, and cryptographic tokens that are connected to the system.
*portreserve   │ Portreserve is a TCP port reservation utility that can be use to prevent RPC services from picking up well-known reserved ports.
pppoeserver │ pppoe-server is a user-space server for PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Eth- ernet) for Linux and other UNIX systems. pppoe-server works in concert with the pppoe client to respond to PPPoE discovery packets and set up PPPoE sessions.
psacct        │ Starts and stops process accounting
rdisc         │ This is a daemon which discovers routers on the local subnet.
restorecond   │ restorecond uses inotify to look for creation of new files listed in the /etc/selinux/restorecond.conf file, and restores the correct security context.
rpcbind       │ The rpcbind utility is a server that converts RPC program numbers into universal addresses. It must be running on the host to be able to make RPC calls on a server on that machine.
rpcgssd       │ NFS is a popular protocol for file sharing across \ networks. This deamon manages RPCSEC GSS contexts on the client used by secure NFS mounts
rpcidmapd     │ NFS is a popular protocol for file sharing across \ networks. This deamon maps user names and groups to UID \ and GID numbers on NFSv4 mounts.
rpcsvcgssd    │ NFS is a popular protocol for file sharing across \ networks. This deamon manages RPCSEC GSS contexts on the server used by secure NFS mounts
*rsyslog       │ Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd supporting, among others, MySQL, syslog/tcp, RFC 3195, permitted sender lists, filtering on any message part, and fine grain output format control.
saslauthd     │ Saslauthd is a server process which handles plaintext authentication requests on behalf of the cyrus-sasl library.
sendmail      │ sendmail is a Mail Transport Agent (MTA)
smartd        │ The smartd daemon monitors SMART status of the local hard drives and provides advanced warnings of of disk degradation or failures.
*smb           │ Starts and stops the Samba smbd daemon used to provide SMB network services.
smolt         │ Enable monthly update of Smolt
*squid         │ Squid - Internet Object Cache. Internet object caching is \ a way to store requested Internet objects (i.e., data available \ via the HTTP, FTP, and gopher protocols) on a system closer to the \ requesting site than to the source. Web browsers can then use the \ local Squid cache as a proxy HTTP server, reducing access time as \ well as bandwidth consumption.
*sshd          │ SSH is a protocol for secure remote shell access. This service starts up the OpenSSH server daemon.
udev-post     │ Moves the generated persistent udev rules to /etc/udev/rules.d
*vsftpd        │ vsftpd is a Very Secure FTP daemon. It was written completely from scratch
wpa_supplicant │ wpa_supplicant is a tool for connecting to wireless networks
ypbind        │ This is a daemon which runs on NIS/YP clients and binds them to a NIS domain. It must be running for systems based on glibc to work as NIS clients, but it should not be enabled on systems which are not using NIS.
